The capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, contains its lot of misery and forsaken. Thousands of children leave their homes at an early age in order to wander the streets of the tourist areas of the city. Most of these homeless begs and hopes to survive in the urban jungle of Kathmandu. For some, this new life will come down to an immersion in the drug world of which they will become dependent before their tenth birthday.
Raphaël George has shot some of these children, often outside the drug scene. By attempting to establish contact with them, he captured these moments through a smile that often expresses more than just joy, but the hopes of better days.
Raphaël George is currently working on a documentary in collaboration with a Nepalese collective and many NGOs working for the hosting and reintegration of the street children.
